Wireless community networks (WCNs) or wireless community projects
overview

Greetings!
This email is primarily to provide Steve with maps and to outreach to those that would comprise a team. Below are 4 different sections for
initiating the community wifi infrastructure process in conjunction with the President of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation
Section 1 Starting with context for wifi overview items

Sections 2-4 are proposed mapped areas in LA County

Section 1 Below are the starting items for a community network. Once you have your target team and some assets identified we can develop your plan in detail.
CommunityWifi.net Wireless community networks (WCNs) or wireless community projects are organizations that take a grassroots approach to provide a viable alternative to municipal wireless networks for consumers. A community network is basically: A WIFI system that is run by the local people to fit their needs.
Key Components:

· Volunteers - Tech and support (8-10) · Community Resources - Churches, community centers, semi-public spaces· Sponsors (capital and knowledge)

Technical RequirementsNetwork Plan based upon:
· Target area & users (Define your target area boundaries)· Internet connection (Consider Middle Mile issues)· High Ground Assets· Wireless Equipment

Section 3 The CalTekNet Digital Divide LA County Census Tracks for development of Community Wifi Networks, as per our conversationnote: they are listed in order of my priority but I would try to initiate them at or near the same time and walk each of them through.I'm also thinking of incorporating the LA City Neighborhood Councils grouped by 12 service regions that  targeting their boundaries as a source of community stakeholder support

Hello,
Thank you Zahir for meeting with me today from Atlanta. As per our conversation I'm following up with a recap of our meeting. Please feel free to jar my memory on what we talked about.  Cheers!

Zahir was asked to talk about his understanding of what he thinks we need to produce for Ben.

Zahir said that he's aware of the broadband project and as he understands it, that what Ben wants is for us to identify broadband access/providers that are available to be connected to in Leimert Park. He specifically mentioned, AT&T, The Sentinel, Metro and maybe one or two others.

Zahir said we need to figure out how much it will cost and who's paying for it, since operating autonomous vehicles requires substantial bandwidth.

Kenneth said Ben mentioned several broadband resources and that he wants us to build a system to support broadband access initially for students, parents and seniors from Obama (N) to Slauson (S) along Crenshaw with connections to Dorsey, Crenshaw and Audubon LAUSD schools.

Kenneth continued to talk about his understanding which is implied (but not explicitly stated by Ben) from meeting with Ben that for now, Ben needs a 1-page Digital Divide Broadband operational plan covering the geographical map (see street designations above) he provided us.

Zahir said he will check the bandwidth of his technical writer and get back to me regarding the information he will contribute, initially.

Kenneth is producing this documentation and will extract and compile information from documents he has shared with the others.

The broadband team needs to have Ben review the meeting notes and provide feedback with specifics so we are clear on his request and we can produce what he needs.

Thank you very much.

Since our meeting, this morning I located an:
